Airbus got offers to buy A380 from the businessmen who would like to convert the biggest airliner in the world into a flying casino. David Velupillai, marketing director for Airbus's executive aviation division, confirmed that the company is negotiating with some customers who are interested in setting up real casinos onboard the A380. He also said that if the deal is settled a fully-fitted casino could be delivered between 2012 and 2017.
The idea of a flying casino appeared a while ago but only recently has been specifically outlined. A380 is the first airliner big enough to house a full-scale casino. "If you decide to set up something grand like a casino onboard the plane, first of all you’re going to have the floor space that will allow you to do this. A380 is spacious enough to offer unlimited possibilities for creating luxury and original interiors."
The identity of the interested customers is not disclosed but the experts think these could be Asian customers because the gambling business in the region is on the rise now as never before. However, many Asian countries have harsh bans concerning gambling which force people to seek the nonconventional way out.
