The legendary name of Ellicott that left quite a trace in the history of watchmaking art has been brought to life again. The famous family of masters produced their creations in the golden age of watchmaking, in the 2nd half of the 18th century in England.
The inventions of John Ellicott II, Fellow of the Royal Society, made him famous all over Europe. He invented a cylinder escapement and for that was appointed the Royal Watchmaker of HM King George III.
A new life for this old English brand started in La Chaux-de-Fonds, initiated by Pierre-André Finazzi. The latter has several internationally known and quite successful projects: he revived the watchmaking brand Graham and co-founded the British Masters, Sa. His company has an objective of returning professional recognition to the Ellicott brand by achieving exceptional exterior and inner characteristics.
The launch will take place at Baselworld 2008 in April.
