October 2007 marks the centenary of the famous Dunhill tobacco company. The history of Dunhill goes back to the day when the first shop offering a wide choice of first-class cigars and tobacco blends opened in Duke Street, in the prestigious St. James district in the capital of Great Britain. The shop had soon become popular in the narrow circles of high society Londoners.
St. James used to be the place for the famous gentlemen’s clubs. To mark its centenary Dunhill prepared a surprise for its aficionados: collector’s tobacco blends from the book of personal recipes by clients of the London shop.
As early as in 1907 each client of the tobacco company had a chance to create a special blend according to their personal preferences. Among 33,000 recipes the experts have chosen only three. For these blends especially elegant designer packs were created.
