
All builders share an impossible dream: to build their very own Tower of Babel. Now it looks like Emaar construction company from the UAE is getting close to the coveted goal. The unique Burj Dubai skyscraper being constructed in the UAE is thrusting to the height never before touched by man-made buildings.
Burj Dubai already has 160 storeys - a new world record. It keeps getting higher, and the builders haven't yet announced just where the highest building in the world is going to stop. Currently the tower is 630 meters high, beating the previous 1963 record set by KVLY-TV tower in North Dakota (the guy-supported tower is 628.8 metres high).
The project (estimated cost $1 billion) is now scheduled to be completed next year, four months later than the original plan. So the Christmas balls in Burj Dubai planned for the coming December will definitely not happen.
