The test sail of the new flagship sailing cruiser Pilot Saloon 55 by the French manufacturer Wauquiez was held after the yacht’s launch.
The trials were held in Belgium, by the coast of Nieuwpoort. The cruiser’s speed reached 8,5 knots in 11,5-knots crosswind, and the most important thing is that neither the crew got wet. The engines were tested in the harbour: the yacht easily made the speed of 9,5 knots but couldn’t maintain it for too long, mostly because of the speed restrictions. The bow thruster made the mooring much easier.
The 17,7-metre yacht has a master cabin at the stern, 2 guest cabins and a bow cabin for the crew. The yacht is equipped with standard Andersen electric winches that tackle the sails easily even in strong wind.
