This snowwhite teak-lined cruiser won’t go unnoticed in the midst of any city traffic. Let us introduce EDAG LUV.
The Mercedes line now includes a pickup. Did you know that? Wait before you attack the search engines with queries, however, because they’re unlikely to give away any information on the subject: this rarity was given the name not by its predecessors from Stuttgart but from its "foster parents" from EDAG Engineering + Design AG. Their efforts turned the already not-so-small Mercedes-Benz GL into EDAG LUV, a giant pickup cruiser. The comparison with a yacht is not at all metaphorical. EDAG engineers consciously exploit the yachting theme: the body and bonnet, which reminds of a gangway, are lavishly decorated with teak wood. Sea conquerors can only envy the luxurious interior that uses precious kinds of wood, leather and metal.
Apart from that, the name itself - EDAG LUV – hints at marine terminology. LUV stands for "Luxury Utility Vehicle" and sounds like luff.
The “yacht” can take up to 5 people aboard who will be provided with top levels of comfort. Passengers in the 2nd row can use the advanced UMPC (UltraMobile PC) system: 2 real ultracompact computers mounted into front headrests. These computers allow working with all office applications and browsing the Internet without the need to leave the cabin, i.e. salon. UMPC also allows access to the audio library and the collection of favourite films. In other words, you have everything at hand, including a full-size keyboard that retracts into the same capacious front seat.
However, the new car will be a joy not only for the fans of high-tech gadgets. The 6.1-litre 462-hp Brabus engine allows the cruiser to outclass some high-speed cutters. It speeds up to 100 kmph in some 6 seconds; the maximum speed is limited by electronics at the standard German 250 kmph. Naturally, the giant requires not just any other brakes, but very special ones (again, courtesy of Brabus). Incidentally, the salon too features many accessories by the famous tuning studio: the choice of the subcontractor is very favourable and quite matches the level.
EDAG LUV was unveiled last year in Geneva. Six months later this engineering wonder was even brought to the Moscow Interavto Show, where it was totally drowned in the sea of Chinese mass produce. Which is regrettable: you do not see such rarities every day.
