The biggest marina in Naples, Nauticsud, located in the district of Mergellina, has hosted the International Boat Show for the 39th time. The show consisted of 2 parts: the showcase on the water was located at the marina, the other part at the exhibition pavilion Mostra d’Oltremare.
In Italy Nauticsud is considered the 2nd largest yachting event. The 1st place is of course occupied by the autumn Genoa Show. The leading players of the Italian yachting market took part in the Boat Show: the InRizzardi Group, Aicon Yachts, Apreamare, Cantiere di Baia, Fiart Mare, Franchini Yachts, Itama, Rio Yachts, and some European manufacturers like Beneteau, Fairline, Sunseeker, and Cigarette.
The scale of the show doesn’t make it the main place for premieres. This boat show is more of a big spot for business meetings and contacts. Early spring is the time when it’s not too late to order a new boat to have it delivered by summer, the beginning of the season. Naturally we’re speaking about serial boats or at least semi-custom ones. That’s why it’s so difficult to come across big premieres at the fair. Aicon 72 Open, Apreamare 64, Baia 70 Italia and Franchini 74 Emozione were first showcased in Genoa in autumn, but in Naples you could have a test sail.
We really can’t but mention the yacht that before the launch on the 1st day of the show could be seen only in 3D version – the hardtop InCRedible 55. This 18.48-m yacht by the InRizzardi Group, owners of 7 yachting brands, was designed by Domiano Rizzardi and InRizzardi technical team. The yacht is 4.84 m wide; she has a draft of 1.5 metres and fuel tank capacity of 2650 l. There are 2 engine options: 2 MAN V8 900 CR working on 900 hp each or 2 MAN V10 at 1100 hp each. The former make a maximum speed of 36 knots and a cruising speed of 31 knots; the latter sail at 38 and 33 knots respectively. There’s also an option of increasing the engine power and the speed up to 46 knots.
It was exciting to learn the names that are either little-known or completely unknown in the Russian market. The model line of Rio Yachts includes 4 series: Air, Art, Blu and Cruiser. The 2008 newcomer is the small Rio 28 Blu less than 10 m long (8.54). She has a midship cabin, a semicircular sofa at the bow bringing together the lounge and cockpit zones. The passenger capacity is 8 people. Another model launched in Genoa, Rio 42 Art, is a 2-cabin version. This 13-m-long yacht is intended for coastal weekend cruises.
Franchini Yachts, the builder of sailing yachts from 43 to 78 feet and a new series of motor yachts, presented their 2 new motor yachts: Emozione 55 and Emozione 55 Fly. Franchini yachts can be described as lobster boats. The characteristic bow, a spacious cockpit and classic outlines of the hull – it’s a yacht for the romantic ones. The 55-foot flying bridge yacht has a maximum speed of 34 knots and a range of 490 miles.
Dalla Pieta makes sports motor yachts from 15 to 23 metres, excellent motor yachts with an 18,3-m-long flying bridge and 26,3-m-long luxury yachts. The show featured 3 models: 58’, 59’ and this year’s newcomer 50’ HT. The retractable hardtop is electric and is operated from the control board. The yacht makes up to 36 knots and has a cruising range of 280 miles. The maximum passenger capacity is 12 people; there are 6 beds.
Fiart Mare, a well-known brand in Russia, introduced their almost full line: 23 and 27 high-speed powerboats and 28, 34, 38 and 42 from the Genius series. Also, the new Fiart 47 was launched.
In the year to come the show will celebrate its 40th anniversary. For the 40th time yachting manufacturers will come together to showcase their models. For a week Naples will be hosting the yachting festival. Probably the record of this year will be broken: in 2008 over 300 yachts were showcased on the water, 1300 yachting projects were presented and 700 brands from all over Italy and even from the Western hemisphere took part.
